Let’s face it, being a business owner isn’t always a bed of roses. There are frustrating times—and then there are REALLY frustrating times. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and fed-up with your business, take heart! You’re not alone.
Here are the 5 most common frustrations I hear, with the most effective solution for ALL of THEM at the bottom of this email.
First Frustration: Everything is Dependent Upon Me!
Ever get annoyed after a hard day running a business and coming home and being asked to decide the family dinner?
Debating between chicken, lamb and pizza is not inherently stressful, but it is the last thing you need after answering the same questions, dealing with deadbeat customers or problems that could and should have been solved by the ones you pay.
As the business owner, you wear many hats. You’re the salesperson, the marketing director, the customer service representative, the accountant—the list goes on and on. And while you may be good at wearing all these hats, there comes a time when you need to take a break. When you’re bogged down with too much work, it affects your health, your relationships, and your ability to enjoy life.
Second Frustration: My Business has become a ***** Job!
When you constantly have a phone stuck to your face like a pyscho stalking ex or constantly put out fires and address immediate problems, it is difficult to work on the tasks that actually grow your business.
How many of you really wanted to run a business that owns you like a dog at the end of the day? That if you step away, nothing will be done and it will go to the place where you hope to train your child to go by the age of 2.5?
Third Frustration: I’ve heard a rumour that I’m married with kids!
Have your spouse and children become unicorns in your life – magical fantasies that you believe exist, but not sure because you never see them with your own eyes?
When you’re running a business, it’s easy to let your personal life fall by the wayside. You skip family gatherings because “you have to work” becomes commonplace, and catching up with friends is something that always seems to get pushed off until “later.” But if you’re not careful, this lack of balance can lead to burnout—and it can damage your relationships beyond repair.
Fourth Frustration. “My life has become like England vs Germany in the Men’s World Cup – and no I’m not the one holding the big Beer Steins..”
Ever feel like you’re in a Rut? Where things feel like they’re going nowhere fast and discouragement is just around the corner? Progress is painfully slow – like a root canal from a dentist with no hands. Growth has come to a standstill or perhaps even decreasing a bit. Many of us go through it, but thankfully with the right strategy, you can put it in the rear view mirror and enjoy running your business again.
Fifth Frustration. “My Business is my Life and it’s burning me out”
This comes about as the four above are mugging you and kicking you on the ground. It’s the exhaustion from all the work and stress that’s on your shoulders to keep your business running smoothly.
Like carrying a 50 kg baby. It’s cute at first because she’s so big and round, but after a while it’s a huge pain in the ass. You want to drop Hippo girl but that’s not an option and so you bear and deal with it..
But you don’t have to…
There is hope…
And in a nutshell, the solution to all these frustrations is to make your company an independent and sellable company that can thrive without you. One where you have the people, systems and processes in place so that you can guide it like a Jedi Master, but it carries the burdens like the strongest ox you can find.
It can grow and thrive without relying on you to make all the decisions.
You become free to control when and where you work – and how much.
It fulfills why you started your business in the first place.
No other solution guarantees it, and the beauty is that this solution is 100% in your power and resources to pull off.
And it takes less time than you think..
That’s the beauty and hope I leave you with.
