Took the girls to the park this morning.
Getting them some exercise.
After playing ball they wanted to run and for me to time them.
Then my youngest, Elliana, looked at me and said, “Your turn, Daddy.”
I couldn’t say no.
Go..
I launched off my starting crouch… the one I was teaching them.
But then second step in, I heard a pop in my left hamstring and I was face down on the grass.
I must admit I didn’t filter much that came out of my mouth as the shooting pain went up and down the leg.
And to add insult to injury…. A notice comes in that due to potential missile activity we need to go to a safe space and get away from the window.
F it.. I thought to myself…. and limped my way home and put myself up on the sofa to ice the leg and try to recover.. windows be damned.
Right now I’m writing this with another round of ice on my calf, barely able to walk, and somehow still needing to get myself together for a 4pm happy hour I organised.
My whole day just got thrown into disarray.
From one sprint an a pop.
Wednesday I wrote to you about my friend stranded abroad while bombs fall.
How his business kept running fine without him with no stress or panic calls.
Today I’m the one life decided to test. Obviously not on the same scale as what’s going on around here but the principle is instructive.
Life doesn’t send a calendar invite.
Now here’s the question I want you to sit with.
If something knocked you down tomorrow — not for an afternoon but for weeks or months — what happens to your business?
Does it keep running? Do your clients even notice? Does revenue keep coming in while you recover?
Or does the whole thing grind to a halt because every decision, every client, every process runs through you?
If you can’t take months off without your business suffering, you don’t have an asset. You have a dependency problem. And that dependency is a risk to your company, your income, and your family.
And not just someday when you want to sell… but right now in your daily life.
It’s affecting how you live today.
How much time you have.
How much freedom you don’t.
That’s why I created Fall in Love with Your Business Again. It’s not about some distant exit.
It’s about making sure that when life happens — and it will — your business thrives no matter what gets thrown at you.
