This is a true story

In the early 2000s, one of the biggest transactions happened in the wine industry.

The industry leader bought an upstart company started by business consultants without any experience in wine making, but who grew it into a national business.

Before the buyer would close the deal, he asked the seller one question…

“What the hell am I buying… you have no vineyards, no trucks, no storage facilities….what am I buying besides empty air?”

The seller smiled and held out a large used and worn book.

“You’re buying this …. Bob”

Bob was satisfied and the deal closed…

Why?

Because this book contained the company’s customers and the recurring orders they were making that were coming down the pike.

You see, the seller, Barefoot Winery, had invested in what I spoke about yesterday.
