Yesterday I talked about brutal truths.
Today, let’s get specific — because the lies you believe (or let slide) are already sabotaging your business.
Let’s start with your customers:
- How satisfied are they really?
- How many come back — without begging?
- How many rave about you to others?
- How many ghost you quietly while you scramble for more?
The gap between referrals and churn is one of the most brutal truths you’ll ever face.
If you don’t know that number — or worse, pretend it’s “not that bad” — you’re already bleeding out.
I’ve lived it.
Early on, I had to eat the harsh truth: my renewals sucked.
Clients weren’t sticking. And when I finally dug in, the answer was clear — I wasn’t building enough value for them to stay.
I had a client who was stuck in the opposite pattern.
She was exhausted. Her biggest client demanded everything… and gave very little in return.
When I told her to fire him, she resisted — he was 30% of her revenue.
But when she finally pulled the plug?
She replaced him with three new clients — all more profitable, none of the drama.
Today she’s thriving.
Same business.
Better truth.
And how about your culture?
- Are you building a team — or a daycare for adult toddlers with “safe space” name tags?
- Do your people inspire customers… or repel them?
- Is your culture full of real talk — or just comfortable lies?
Walk into any restaurant or shop and you’ll know in 90 seconds what kind of culture runs the place.
It shows in how they treat you.
Now ask yourself: what would your customers say after 90 seconds with your team?
And let’s not forget the sycophants.
- Are they promoted?
- Or shown the door?
If I smell brown-nosing and filtering when someone says, “You’ll deal with my right-hand,” I walk.
I don’t waste time with gatekeepers guarding mediocrity.
This stuff matters.
Even if you’re not planning to sell, the value of your business depends on how brutally honest you’re willing to be.

Because pretending everything’s fine while the foundation’s rotting underneath?
That’s not brave.
It’s just stupid.
