Let’s talk about Rebecca again because I think her story is such a great example.
A few months back Rebecca and I were having a coffee and she couldn’t sit still.
She was constantly fidgeting, snapping at her phone like it had personally insulted her.
“She called me again last night,” Rebecca said.
“‘We need you to produce. I’m putting my entire company and family’s future on the line with you.’”
That was her client. Her biggest client.
Rebecca had warned her before — “you can’t put your entire marketing strategy on one person’s back… especially not me.”
But her client didn’t listen.
Now she was calling Rebecca all hours of the day, texting weekends, demanding discounts, hijacking her calendar, and shoving responsibility for her business’s success onto Rebecca’s shoulders.
“Rebecca… fire her.”
“I can’t,” she said. “She’s too much of my revenue.”
So we did the math:
- How much time was she spending on this client?
- How much stress was pouring into the rest of her team?
- And if she had that time and energy back… what could she do with it?
That night, she pulled the trigger.
Two weeks later she signed three new clients — each more profitable than the one she let go.
When we met again for lunch 45 days later, Rebecca looked like a different person.
Fit. Calm. Relaxed. Glowing.
The stress and exhaustion — gone.
Rebecca’s business was finally starting to work for her — not against her.
