I had an interesting exchange recently with a member of a networking group I was part of for three years before leaving.
This is an organisation that prides itself on giving and serving others, its top value.
When I asked if they’d like to invite their members to my upcoming Profit an Dine event, the response was negative and patronising.
What really caught my attention was the underlying claim to their response to the effect of “You are no longer a member, so why would we refer anyone to you?”
Which is an interesting perspective, because even after leaving, I still refer business for their members (including two deals closed in the past week).
Because it’s about the relationships… not the membership in a group that matters.
You’ve heard it before but it’s very true… Actions speak louder than words.
How people act tells you whether they have a short-term, scarcity mindset or a long-term, abundance mindset.
You can do business with either, but I prefer the relationship builders.
