He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Mark 4:9)

That line hit me the moment I saw the raspberries.

Ripe, juicy, and practically begging to be picked. My daughters sprinted to the bushes like it was Christmas morning.

Here’s what was brilliant:

This farm opened up their harvest to the public — and charged people for the privilege of picking the fruit themselves.

Let’s break that down…

For the farmers, this meant:

  • Free labour
  • 100% margin (no middlemen, no wholesalers)
  • Repeat business (families go back, tell others, post pics)

And they had a flawless system:

  • You show up, they weigh your bowls and baskets (builds trust)
  • You pick what you want
  • They weigh it again and charge you
  • You’re invited to grab a bite, a drink, and hang around

While some families finish and leave… more cars pull in. More pickers. More cash.

And here’s the kicker:

I never met the owners.

Because they didn’t have to be there.

The place ran like clockwork. A well-run business. A profitable one.

But is it valuable?

After all, it’s:

  • Highly seasonal
  • Narrow in revenue windows
  • Dependent on the weather and crop yield

So why is it valuable?

I have some thoughts.

But I want to hear yours.

Why do you think this business — despite the limitations — would still be considered highly valuable?

Let’s talk.
