I was in Brian Kurtz’s Titans Accelerator Mastermind a few months back when someone shared this quote:
Gall’s Law
“A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked. A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work. You have to start over with a working simple system.”
This explains why some sports teams consistently produce winners and All-Stars while others become running jokes.
The losing teams aren’t dumb. They take what works for Championship Team A, slap it onto Team B, sprinkle in some magic dust… and expect instant success.
But instead of winning, they keep racing in the wrong direction.
Because Championship Team A’s complex system evolved from simpler foundations—ones that fit their unique culture, players, and strategy.
Copy-pasting complexity never works.

So instead of blindly throwing money at ads or overhauling everything, start with the basics:
- Are your existing customers sticking around or leaving?
- Are they buying once or repeatedly?
- Are they referring others or staying silent?
- Is your pricing capturing the full value of your impact?
Master the Basics → Then Add Complexity
Simple first. Then scale.
