It was painful to watch
Patrick, our 30+ year old Irish friend was interested in a woman in our mutual circle of friends.
And it was more obvious than the fiery ginger mullet he wore.
But years of parochial school and a decade + being with the wrong woman had stunted his “dating radar” suffice to say.
And so as a single man he was very much a Hake out of water.
Like the time he just plopped down at our table in the middle of a private conversation.
So one of our friends at the table, “big Gary” just called it as it is..
“You’re only sitting here because you want to date our friend Siobhan here.”
Paddy went all red, stammered, stuttered and said he didn’t … when it was obvious he did.
He went into super romantic mode after that.. trying to entice Siobhan with flowers, gifts and everything else he read in a book.
And he crashed and burned.. because the previous 10 guys did the same routine and so he didn’t stand out.
The ironic thing.
Siobhan did fancy him .. in the beginning…
Until he commoditised himself like most of the other guys.
So what does this sad escapade have to do with your business.
